ABOUT THE VILLAGE

About The Village

We founded The Village with a simple belief: when people have access to the right spaces, resources, and relationships, extraordinary things can happen.

Based in Washington, DC, The Village is a cultural community hub, and creative ecosystem designed to bring people together through food, culture, entrepreneurship, and shared experiences. What began as a neighborhood gathering cafe has grown into a business that supports artists, entrepreneurs, makers, students, and community members who are building ideas, businesses, and movements that create positive impact.

Founded by friends and locals Mahammad Mangum and Kevon King, The Village was created to fill a gap we experienced ourselves — a need for spaces that genuinely foster connection, creativity, and opportunity. As Washington, DC continues to evolve, we remain committed to creating environments where people from all backgrounds can gather, collaborate, learn, and thrive.

Over the years, we have hosted thousands  of events, supported emerging businesses, created opportunities for local creatives, and built partnerships that strengthen our community. From markets and workshops to cultural celebrations, educational programs, and entrepreneurial initiatives, our work is rooted in the belief that community is one of our greatest resources.

Today, we are building the next chapter of The Village. Through expanded programming, larger community spaces, workforce development opportunities, culinary initiatives, and creative platforms, we are working to create a sustainable ecosystem where culture, commerce, and community can grow together.

While our roots are firmly planted in Washington, DC, our vision is helping the future. We believe every community deserves spaces that inspire connection, celebrate culture, and create pathways to opportunity. The Village exists to show what is possible when people invest in one another and build together.
